Housing market crash in 2008 affected building development in many cities in north America and KW (Kitchener Waterloo) area was not exception. This article investigates some of those changes based on the data published by city of Waterloo (Building outline). The following table shows sample rows of this data.
Looking at data in table above, we can plot the number of residential buildings and their size (room count) over time in figure 1. As this chart shows, the housing crash of year 2008 had significant effect on the size and number of new residential buildings. After the housing crisis, size of the houses steadily increased.
